It’s about how your employees collaborate. With each other. And with you.
It’s about how they support each other. Or how they ignore each other.
It’s about how they give advise. Or how they decide to keep quiet.
It’s about how they receive feedback. Or how they make sure to never be at the receiving end, because it hurts too much. And who cares anyway.
It’s about how they challenge each other, and themselves. Or how they try to go the easier route, just in case.
It’s about how they include each other. Or how they keep quiet when someone is attributed for something someone else did.
It’s about their ability to execute together. Or to go their own way, no matter what.
Engaged and productive employees don’t just happen.
They are the result of a deliberate process.
Hiring the right people is just the start of this journey.
A structured onboarding process is the tip of the iceberg.

You need an environment that fosters the behaviours you want to see. You need to create and encourage the ecosystem that helps your employees to flourish.
Seriously, this is more about you than about your employees.
At the top, you are the example.
Make sure you enable and encourage the things you want to see.
Enable the enablers. Make sure you don’t discount glue work as a nice to have. It’s crucial, especially in a remote environment.
That’s what operations is about. One-to-one (leadership skills) or structurally (ops).
