Wine pairing for difficult conversations
A not entirely serious guide to meetings that could use some humour
There are days when only humour can carry you through yet another meeting that could have been an email or a conversation between two adults.
So here’s an ad-hoc winepairing a friend and me came up with this month. Not to be taken seriously. Remember to have fun (not alcohol) at work.
Meaty escalation calls need a full bodied Rioja, Priorat or even Pinot Noir.
Cheesy celebration townhalls go well with a rosé (no bubbles for this one though)
If something’s really fishy, pair it with a Verdejo, a Riesling or even a Chardonnay.
And for announcement meetings, you can’t go wrong with a Cava or Champagne (depending on budget, obviously).
Wait what? What happened to the usual thought-through and practical content of the Empress of Remote? Well, this months I am heads-down in performance reviews and process improvements around review season. If that topic interests you, check out this post:
Reimagining Yearly Performance Reviews
How to turn compliance into impact and not succumbing to a yearly circus with the only purpose to check a couple of well-known boxes.
In the meantime, don’t take yourself too seriously. I’ll be back in roughly two weeks with the usual mix of product, process and people.
